No One, but Jesus

The best of life was not receiving my college degree.
Nor being honored by my football coaches Co-MVP.
It was not being an Army’s brazen killing-machine,
Nor dating my beautiful high-school queen.
I wanted Jesus, like a thirsty man’s need for water,
I was quenched by the Spirit from my heavenly Father.
Unable to conquer my sins, like a leprous disease,
My sins were deathly; consumed with self to please.
Jesus pardoned them with His blood flowing stream—
And thru death conquered sin by His power supreme.
Only Jesus could satisfy my soul’s bottomless needs.
I did not have one Iota to boast of personal deeds.
I could not live sinless like Jesus in the flesh perfectly,
Or match His resurrected life over death triumphantly.
I decided to trust Him alone, and love others biblically.
At the end, I’ll reign in His Eternal Kingdom righteously,
And thank Him for giving me life more abundantly.
